A pool is only one part of your yard. Ideally you should plan the whole project at one time so there is an integration of the design and materials for the pool, patio, pool deck, outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, walkways, spa and water features.

Even the site-line from the patio table across the pool to your landscape horizon should be considered. Landscape and rock wall formations can be creatively planned to provide privacy from nearby neighbors. Cascading waterfalls or fountains can provide subtle music to sooth you while they mask area noise. The list is endless, but the results of a good plan are breathtaking.

The plan starts with your vision, but a Master Builder can help you paint the picture. Start by listing the living areas you visualize for your yard:

  • Where do you see yourself having dinner outside?
  • Will you only barbeque outside or prepare whole meals in an outdoor kitchen?
  • Do you see a children’s play area nearby?
  • Where do you want the spa or hot tub – overflowing into the pool or close to the house?
  • What type of gardens?  Lots of flowers or bold rock formations and trees?
  • Will you see the pool from the house?
  • What water features entice you? – shimmering waterfalls, fountains or ponds?
  • What pool shapes do you like?
  • What about a lap-pool for exercise?
  • How about a sports equipped pool?

Randomly list the key features and descriptions you would use to describe your pool and landscape. “Spectacular, fun, exciting, relaxing, etc …” and the Master Builder will interpret and concept the initial design.
